Our Story

The Avenue Jewellers Store Moranbah

Loose DiamaondsOur story starts in 1972 when we moved from Victoria to the mining outpost of Rubyvale on the Central Queensland Sapphire fields. We spent nine years mining sapphires, cutting the gems and selling jewellery while we were on the Gemfields, after moving on we stayed in the industry experiencing opal trading and the gold mining industry from Clermont up to Charters Towers all the while being involved in the gem and jewellery industry.

After moving to Moranbah we opened The Avenue Jewellery and Gifts in 1985, the name derived from Mills Avenue where we first opened. This was the beginning of Lorraine's dream to fulfil her passion with gems and jewellery. Loose sappire Since the town didn’t have a jewellery store at that time people embraced the opportunity to purchase fine jewellery and gifts.

Within two years the opportunity to relocate to the Moranbah Fair shopping centre presented itself, seizing on the chance we moved and thanks to our customer support thirty years on are still in business at that location.

Since opening we have had many special occasions with our customers and their families from birth many birthdays through to coming of age, engagement, marriage and anniversaries enjoying the return of our many loyal customers when they come back to town after moving on.

Our passion with gems and jewellery is reflected in the quality standard of our products and follows through into the personized service that is provided to our customers by Lorraine, Peter and our staff who are selected as carefully as the jewellery purchased. Loose opals Those that have come to know us through the years know and understand our standards and the passion we apply to our business and the passion we have with gems, jewellery and mineral collecting, come and enjoy the experience.
